David De Gea to be DROPED against IRAN after howler against Portugal
David De Gea’s starting spot for Spain is in doubt after a majority of supporters voted for the Manchester United star to be dropped.
Spain drew 3-3 with Portugal in their World Cup 2018 opener but De Gea was culpable for Ronaldo’s second goal of his scintillating hat-trick.
The Manchester United stopper failed to block Ronaldo’s shot and allowed it to spill in to put Portugal 2-1 up.
De Gea hit out at Spanish fans after the draw, claiming they are not supportive enough and that he doesn’t feel much love from his home country.
And supporters have backed up De Gea’s worst fears by voting to drop him for their next match against Iran.
In a vote conducted by AS, 49% of voters want Athletic Bilbao keeper Keep Arrizabalaga to get the starting spot, while a further 11% think it should go to former Liverpool star Pepe Reina.
though De Gea insists his performances will not be
affected by one bad display but and Fernandio Hierro is set to stick with the
United star at least for the remainder of the group stages.
