I am incorruptible, unlike Akufo-Addo – Mahama

The office of the former President John Dramani Mahama has denied claims of diverting some $13 million meant for the development of the Western Region from the E.O. Group into his personal account. Former President Mahama, has been cited in a petition written to the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, for an investigation to be conducted into the alleged misappropriation of the said development fund. But Mr. Mahama responding to the said petition described the claims as false.

The office of the former president in an explanation maintained that the petition is another failed attempt by the NPP government to divert attention from the numerous corruption scandals suffocating the Akufo-Addo administration. The statement which is issued and signed by former President Mahama’s Special Aide, Joyce Mogtari added that unlike President Nana Akufo-Addo, he (Mahama) is incorruptible. “Former President Mahama, unlike President Nana Akufo-Addo, is incorruptible. He, therefore, welcomes the said petition and expects the Special Prosecutor who the petitioners claim is the originator and source of the false and dubious claims, to expeditiously commence its work,” the statement said.

Mr. Martin Amidu, who has earned the name ‘Citizen Vigilante’ for his campaign against corruption was named by President Akufo-Addo in January this year as a special Prosecutor, after an emergency cabinet meeting at the Flagstaff House. The President in announcing the Mr Amidu said he received the nomination from the current Attorney General, Gloria Akuffo.
