Federal Government Colleges in Abuja shut over rising insecurity
The Federal Ministry of Education has coordinated Federal Government Colleges (FGCs) situated in the FCT to close and promptly evacuate students.
The mandate is supposedly a consequence of threat to the lives, security and well-being of the students.
The schools were approached to vacate most recent on Wednesday, July 27.
A few schools previously sent messages to guardians on Sunday, July 24, requesting that they get their kids on Monday, July 25, unfailingly.
On Sunday night, following unverified reports of shootings in Federal Government College in Kwali, Abuja, guardians raced to the school to ascertain the security of their youngsters.
A parent recognized as Chika, whose three kids are in FGC Kwali, affirmed to Sun News, that a message came from the school that guardians ought to come get their youngsters no later than Monday early afternoon.
She said: "We received message from the school about the latest development but no explanation was attached to the message. So, when we reach the school on Monday maybe, we would get more details on what led to the sudden decision."
