Lawmakers Planning To Impeach Buhari Can Not Achieve It – Femi Adesina
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina has described the plan by lawmakers to impeach his principal as a bravado (a move to impress).
Adesina stated this on Wednesday while reacting to the statement of Senators from opposition parties who issued a six-week ultimatum to President Buhari to tackle the security issue in the country.
Sources had earlier reported that some lawmakers during plenary staged a walkout from the Senate.
The lawmakers threatened to impeach President Buhari if he fails to address the security challenges in the country within the given time.
Adesina while reacting to the threat of the lawmakers said their move would not go beyond their action in the Senate.
He described the lawmakers who spoke today as a minority of minorities.
Adesina while speaking on Channels TV said, “I think it was just bravado, and sadly, security is not something you subject to bravado.
“You don’t begin to issue flippant ultimatums in something that is a matter of life and death.
“Those who spoke today are the minority of minorities, they will have their say as is needful in a democracy but it will not go beyond that.
“They know in their heart of hearts that they cannot achieve what they are saying, they are just wasting the country’s time, wasting the time of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, they know that they cannot achieve it.
“The truth is that in this kind of scenario, the minority will always have its say while the majority will have its way.”
