Stanbic Bank staff jailed for stealing GH¢297, 000 from bank
As reported by yen news Wa Circuit Court has handed a
10-year jail term to a former staff of Stanbic Bank after founding him guilty
of stealing GH¢297, 000 -He reportedly stole the money through dubious
electronic transactions within a three-day period Click here for the latest
news in Ghana A former employee of Stanbic Bank who stole an amount of
belonging to the bank has been sentenced to 10 years in prison
Rahman Ahmed who worked as a cashier
at the bank's Wa branch is said to have stolen the money between August 31 and
September 2, 2016 through dubious electronic transactions in the form of mobile
money.
Officials of the bank, however,
caught him later, lodged a complaint with the police and he was arrested. After
his arrested, it was discovered that he had invested part of the stolen money
in a kraal at the nearby town of Poyentanga and squandered the rest. He was subsequently
charged with stealing and put before the Wa Circuit Court presided over by Baah
Agyepong Forson.
The convict's counsel, Clement Eledi
pleaded for mitigation sentence but the presiding judge ignored his pleas and
sentenced Ahmed to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour.
