US visa lottery applications all lost - Gov't reveals

US government is calling on all visa lottery applicants to reapply - The government says their system in being faced with a technical hitch - Click here for the latest stories in Ghana All persons who submitted entries to the U.S visa lottery program between October 3rd and 10th are expected to reapply following a technical glitch faced the state department responsible for the processing of such applications.
In fact, the U.S. State Department has revealed that all such applications have been considered invalid. According to them, “entries submitted during October 3-10 are not valid and have been excluded from the system; they will not count as a duplicate entry." In an interview with the Voice of America (VOA), spokesperson of the State Department, Pooja Jhunjhunwala revealed that although the technical hitch has been resolved and that all applicants who duplicate their registration would be disqualified. “The State Department will be sending automated email notifications to each entrant who applied in early October, instructing them to check the website dvlottery.state.gov" for an important announcement", spokesperson Pooja Jhunjhunwala told VOA via email.

In fiscal 2015 (the most recent year for detailed data on application countries), about 12% of the 14.4 million people who applied for the visa lottery were citizens of Ghana (1.7 million). An additional 10%, or nearly 1.4 million applicants, were from Uzbekistan. Other top application countries included Ukraine (nearly 1.3 million applicants), Iran (more than 900,000) and Nepal (nearly 900,000.
