Manchester United £44m Alessio Romagnoli bid rejected by AC Milan
AC Milan have rejected a £44million bid from Manchester United for
Alessio Romagnoli, according to reports in Italy.
The centre-back is one of a number of defenders being considered by Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese looks to tighten his defence ahead of his third season at Old Trafford.
Romagnoli, 23, attracted attention from Chelsea when Antonio Conte first arrived at Stamford Bridge and he’s developed into one of the best defenders in Serie A since leaving Roma for the San Siro in 2015.
Mourinho is keen on signing Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld but United are exploring other options after Spurs demanded £75m for the Belgium international.
Romagnoli is at the top of Mourinho’s list should Tottenham fail to lower their price for Alderweireld and United submitted a £44m bid for the Italian last week.
According to Corriere dello Sport, United placed a bid of £39m with a further £5m of add-ons but Milan rejected it.
