Amber Heard demands that defamation verdict against Johnny Depp is dismissed claiming a juror was illegitimate and that 'evidence does not support verdict'
Legal advisors for actress, Amber Heard have requested that her slander loss in court to ex Johnny Depp be thrown out in light of the fact that the decision was not upheld by proof.
Last month Depp was granted $10.35million in damages fees from Heard, while she was granted only $2million in penalties from Depp significance, Heard owes Depp $8.35million.
However, her legal counselors currently charge that a juror had not been as expectedly reviewed, and addressed whether that juror was even expected to be permitted on the jury.
In a 43-page notice, Heard's legal counselors contended that Depp 'proceeded solely on a defamation by implication theory, abandoning any claims that Ms. Heard's statements were actually false.'
Depp's lead lawyer, Ben Chew, answered the movement in an explanation to Courthouse News, expressing out loud 'What we expected, just longer, no more substantive.'
The motion cast uncertainty on the legitimacy of the jury choice cycle, bringing up a juror - recognized as Juror 15 - whose birth year was recorded as 1945 in court records.
The filing contended that Juror 15 'was clearly born later than 1945. Publicly available information demonstrates that he appears to have been born in 1970.'
'This discrepancy raises the question whether Juror 15 actually received a summons for jury duty and was properly vetted by the court to serve on the jury.'
'It appears his identity could not have been verified,' the recording peruses.
'Mr. Depp made no such effort at any point in the trial to limit his claimed damages. Instead, even throughout the Closings, Mr. Depp continued to urge the jury to restore his reputation and legacy to his children as a result of Ms. Heard accusing Mr. Depp in May 2016 of domestic violence.'
Heard has said that she can't pay the $10.35million in penalties she owes Depp. However she has recently demonstrated that she needs to pursue the decision, to do so she would have to post obligation of the full harms.
A source close to Heard has claimed she is 'broke' and not 'in a position to turn down money.' and that she 'considers her career in Hollywood over' and 'has nothing to lose' following a disastrous few months.
