CAF dismisses Nigeria's bid talk to co-host AFCON 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has dismissed reports that Nigeria and Benin could co-host the 2025 AFCON competition.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick had said that Nigeria and adjoining country, Benin Republic are in conversation to co-host the tournament as the competition could be moved some distance from Guinea because of the political circumstance in the country.

Guinea has been under military rule since a coup last year and that has prompted worries over security and association for the 2025 finals.

However, an official of CAF has dismissed Pinnick's claims of a bid saying that neither his association nor Guinean football officials has had a conversation about surrendering the hosting right to another country

“The host for the 2025 tournament remain Guinea and that has not changed,” the official stated to BBC sports.

“We’ve not discussed anything about a replacement or received any communication from Guinea about the inability to host. At this very moment, everything is on track for Guinea to host and there is no reason to suggest otherwise.”?????
