EFCC arrests former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman over ‘N22bn fraud’


 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained and arrested former minister of power Sale Mamman in connection with an alleged N22 billion scam. 




According to sources, Mamman, who held the position as power minister under the Buhari administration from 2019 to 2021, was arrested at the anti-graft agency's Abuja headquarters after being apprehended early on May 10th. 



He is accused of plotting to embezzle N22 billion and divide it among himself and other ministry employees in charge of the accounting for the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects.




Investigations reportedly recovered millions of cash and naira in addition to assets in Nigeria and abroad that were allegedly connected to the accused.
