Abu Trica granted GH¢30m bail
The General Jurisdiction 2 Division of the High Court has granted bail to Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, in the sum of GH¢30 million, with two sureties to be justified.
The decision was delivered on Tuesday, April 21.
His lawyer, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, announced the development in a post on Facebook.
Abu Trica’s arrest stems from an indictment issued by United States authorities, which alleges his involvement in a sophisticated $8 million romance scam targeting elderly victims.
According to prosecutors, the scheme involved building online relationships with unsuspecting individuals primarily targeting senior citizens and manipulating them into transferring large sums of money under false pretenses.
Investigators claim the alleged network operated across multiple jurisdictions, using fake identities, emotional deception and digital platforms to gain the trust of victims.
