Utd vs Liverpool - injury update against clash

Jose Mourinho has ruled Michael Carrick out of Manchester United's Premier League game at Liverpool on Saturday with a calf injury.
Paul Pogba is still sidelined with a hamstring injury and fellow central midfielder Marouane Fellaini suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain in Belgium's World Cup qualifying win in Bosnia last week.
Fellaini is continuing his rehabilitation in his homeland but Carrick missed United's last two matches against CSKA Moscow and Crystal Palace through injury. The spate of midfield injuries all but confirms a recall for Ander Herrera alongside Nemanja Matic at Anfield.
"Michael Carrick I know he cannot play," Mourinho said. "I know that. Lukaku looks fine and that's it."
Mourinho could name 19-year-old Axel Tuanzebe in the matchday squad or 20-year-old Scott McTominay. Tuanzebe started four of his five first-team games as a defensive midfielder towards the end of last season and McTominay is the only other specialist central midfielder in the senior squad.
McTominay has made one United start and his only outing this term was in the Carabao Cup win over Burton Albion last month.
Mourinho downplayed the significance of United's trip to Liverpool for their eighth league fixture of the campaign.
"It's just one more match," Mourinho added. "Could be the first, could be the eighth or ninth or the last one. Probably if it was the last maybe it would decide something important, but October for me is just another match.
"I understand the tradition, the emotions around the supporters but I look at it in a professional way, what I try to tell my players from the beginning of the season is every match is important, there are no easy matches, there are no matches you prepare more carefully than others. So if I try this mentality I am not going to say this match is more important than others.
"We have more points [than last season]. Last season we lost a few points before we played against Liverpool, we lost a point in matches that you considered easy, we lost points at home against Everton, West Ham, we lost points at Southampton, last season we didn't win [the game] before we play [Liverpool], so we have more points than last season at this stage.
"We are in a better position, we are playing better, we are more confident and have confidence to play but it's a match I can take from this context, I don't put Liverpool as a team that is in this moment in the middle of the table because they are not going to be there at the end of the season, I look at the quality of their team, it's a very difficult match for us and them."
