Manchester United reach £44m agreement to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk

The Brazil international is set to become Jose Mourinho’s first summer signing as United look to strengthen their midfield options after a disappointing end to the season.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, United have now agreed a deal to sign Fred from Shakhtar.

Fred and his agent will be in Liverpool next week as Brazil play Croatia in a warm-up friendly against Croatia at Anfield and the deal could be concluded then.

Mourinho is desperate for United to secure their summer targets before the World Cup begins and the club’s hierarchy made it clear to Fred’s camp that they would not allow the deal to drag on for weeks.
