manchester united ready to sanction £79m offer to sign Douglas Costa

Manchester United have indicated they are prepared to pay the £79million required to sign Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich, according to reports.

Brazil international Costa signed for Bayern in 2015 but spent the entire 2017-18 campaign at Italian giants Juventus, where he scored seven goals and made 13 assists.

In order to secure Costa’s services on loan, Juve paid £7m up front and reached an agreement to sign him for a further £33m if they were happy with his performances.

Juventus remain interested in making his move permanent but are desperate to bolster Massimiliano Allegri’s squad in other areas, which could see Costa return to Bayern.

This would open the door to Manchester United and The Sun say United would be willing to spend £79m on a summer deal for Costa if the opportunity arose.

It is claimed Juventus are still the favourites to sign Costa as he is happy in Turin, but that Jose Mourinho could yet to strengthen his squad with one of the stand-out players in Serie A last season.
