Obasanjo bags Zambia’s highest honour
Previous President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was on Thursday July 14, honoured with Zambia's most noteworthy award of the Order of the Eagle by the President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema.
The function occurred at Lusaka, the nation's capital. Two previous Presidents, Ellen Sirleaf Johnson of Liberia and Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone additionally got similar distinction at the colourful function.
Special Assistant on Media to the previous Nigerian President, Kehinde Akinyemi unveiled that the honours were contained in a government official gazette, which was made accessible on Wednesday July 13.
Akinyemi said in the publication with No 7146, Vol. LVIII, No. 72, the gazette notice No.1067 of 2022 of the Constitution of Zambia telling people in general of the honours, was endorsed by the Acting Secretary of the Cabinet, P.K Kangwa.
Talking in the behalf of awardees, Obasanjo said the honor would act as a support to help out the landmass.
He said;
“On behalf of the awardees, I wish to thank you for the honour done us.
“We take this honour as encouragement to do more. Whatever we have done for Africa and for humanity to make you honour us, we assure you we will do more.”
