Iranian foreign minister leaves Pakistan, expected to return Sunday or Monday
After about 20 hours of talks with top Pakistani officials, including Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has departed Islamabad and is on his way to the Omani capital, Muscat.
Pakistani officials are being tight-lipped about whether the Iranians have agreed to a second round of talks, however, they have told CBS News that Araghchi is expected to return to Islamabad on Sunday or Monday.
Following Saturday's talks, a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry provided few specifics other than thanking Pakistan for serving as an intermediary between Iran and the U.S.
Araghchi had previously said he had no plans to meet in person with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff or President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, who were both scheduled to fly to Islamabad on Saturday.
