Man arrested after crashing car into Jay-Z and Beyoncé's New York mansion gate
A 63-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly driving his car through the front security gate of Jay-Z and Beyoncé's luxury estate in East Hampton, New York. Police say the incident caused significant damage to the property's entrance but there is currently no evidence that the couple was deliberately targeted.
According to East Hampton Village Police, the man drove at a high speed up the driveway and failed to stop before crashing through the estate's closed mechanical gates. He was taken into custody at the scene and later transported to Stony Brook Hospital after complaining of pain.
Authorities have charged the driver with:
Second-degree criminal mischief (felony)
Third-degree criminal trespass (misdemeanor)
Detective Sgt. Jennifer Dunn said the suspect appeared "confused" and made no threats or references to Jay-Z or Beyoncé. Police also revealed he had stopped at another nearby residence before the crash asking for a woman who did not live there, leading investigators to consider whether a medical or mental health issue may have contributed to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
It remains unclear whether Jay-Z and Beyoncé were at the East Hampton mansion when the crash occurred, and neither has publicly commented on the incident. The couple purchased the waterfront property in 2017 for approximately $26 million.
