Tiwa Savage opens up on leaked tape trauma, reveals it was exposed as a bet

Nigerian Afro beats star Tiwa Savage has shared new details about the 2021 leak of her private video, describing herself as "a victim" and saying the experience left her deeply traumatized.

She said the private video involved her and her then-boyfriend.

At the time, he allegedly told her he had accidentally shared the video while trying to save it.

She now says she later discovered the video was circulated as part of a bet involving her then-boyfriend and his friends.

Reflecting on the ordeal, she said she did not fully process the emotional impact at the time:

"I was hurt... I was a victim."

She also pushed back against claims that the leak was a publicity stunt, saying those accusations only added to her pain. Tiwa explained that although she considered pursuing legal action, the situation became too difficult and emotionally draining to continue.

The singer has previously spoken about how the incident affected her personally and professionally, and has said the experience influenced some of her later music.
