Israel continues fight on two fronts despite ceasefires
The Israeli army said it took action in both Gaza and Lebanon over the last two days as it addressed threats posed to Israeli forces.
On Friday, Israel identified a pickup truck filled with alleged terrorists that posed an "immediate threat" to soldiers in the area. Israel conducted an airstrike that took out the truck, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire in October, bartered by the U.S., but Israel has continued to respond to alleged threats to its forces in Gaza. There have been 738 people killed in Gaza over the six months — from Oct. 10, 2025, to April 10, 2026 — since the deal was signed, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The Israeli air force also acted to intercept a "suspicious aerial target" in southern Lebanon on Saturday afternoon. Israel said it posed a threat to Israeli forces in the area but never crossed into Israeli territory.
Despite the ceasefire signed two weeks ago, and extended by another three weeks on Thursday, Israel has continued to target alleged threats to its forces in southern Lebanon. Both sides have accused the other of repeated violations of the ceasefire deal.
